This afternoon, the port of Zeebrugge welcomed select delegations from the Norwegian shipping company Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics and from the Korean shipbuilder Daewoo, for the name-giving ceremony of the m/v Tirranna. The ship measures 760 ft by 105 ft and has 13 decks. It will sail in WWL's Europa – Oceania route.
Joachim Coens, Chairman and Managing Director of the Zeebrugge Port Authority attributed the organisation of the ceremony in Zeebrugge to the fast increasing role of the port of Zeebrugge as a leader in the global automotive sector. The ceremony followed the recent opening a brand new state-of-the-art vehicle processing centre, more proof on a strong anchorage of Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics in the port of Zeebrugge. WWL accounts for no less than 400 calls per year in the Flemish portal town.

By further developing the port into a crossroads of both shortsea and deepsea services and by safeguarding various connections to the hinterland by road, rail and barge, Zeebrugge offers frequency en with over 300 hectares dedicated to the automotive industry, Zeebrugge has sufficient space to fulfill its role as world leader. WWL president Wilhelm Wilhelmsen stated clearly that the role of Zeebrugge in de global car distribution is extremely important.
